FDRS Backpackers' results 2008
Operating under the Club's G6FRS Call sign (and M0FRS) from the
Club's VHF site on the Hogs Back, FDRS fielded /p teams on four out
of the possible five sessions in 2008.
Our team consisted of:-
- Colin G8BCO
- James M3XRU /2E0JDD
- Harley M6DOG
- Jack M3SKZ / 2E0SKZ
- Harry M3XAI
- Tom M6XPT
- Jon M3YZY / 2E0JPJ
Operation was on 2m SSB, running 2.5w into a 6 element quad antenna.
WX for the most part was dry and sunny.
Longest distance contacts were with France, Belgium, Netherlands, and
Wales.
Overall we came in 28th overall out of 58 stations, and 11th out of
32stations in the under 3w section.
We've all learned a lot from taking part, and our special thanks go to
Colin G8BCO for technical expertise, equipment and the enthusiasm to get
the ball rolling in the first place.
The rules of the competition are changing slightly in 2009. This could
play to the advantage of an FDRS team. With a concerted effort we should
be capable of achieving a top ten position overall and maybe even a
section win in the Multi-operator sub 3w classification?
Who'd like to join in?
